The Avondale Court - HPG-2200C-1
I'm a single woman, retired from the military, and currently am working a second career with the State of Louisiana. I never dreamed I'd build a home of my own. My ex-husband and I divorced 6 years ago, and I bought a nice 3 bedroom home about 17 miles from the golf course that I now live on. Golf is my passion and I played every chance I had.
As time went on, I started looking for another place to live closer to work and especially closer to the golf course, and I could never find a house I liked within my budget close to where I wanted to move. After about 1 1/2 years of looking, I decided, why not try to build? There were available lots on the course that I always played golf on.
Interest rates were low and I had some equity built up in my home, so I put it up for sale. One day later, I had an offer! I sold it and moved into an apartment. Meanwhile I had looked at literally hundreds of plans.
I knew what I wanted, an open floor plan, split-floorplan with the master bedroon on one side and lots of windows in the back to overlook the golf course. The minimum to build out here is 2200 sq ft, so when I saw this plan, I knew it was the one. However, I ordered the plans reversed since the garage protects the back of the house and the patio from wayward golf shots! I found a quality builder and he had me in the house in less than 5 months, even after losing about a month to bad winter weather.
I love the large, open kitchen and the windows on the back that overlook the golf course that I built on. I also love the nice sized covered patio.
I love it! My house isn't the biggest in the neighborhood, but it holds it's own with any of the others and I get many compliments on it... My job requires me to travel out of state sometimes, but I'm always anxious to get back to my own beautiful home!
I would guess that my husband and I looked at about 50 different house plan books over the course of two years, and could never quite find what we was looking for. We were looking for something that was open and didn't have ANY wasted space.
I was briefly searching the internet one day and I just happened to come across a house plan that was absolutely perfect. It was actually the first house plan that I had ever seen that I didn't have to make changes on. It had the open living room and kitchen that we were looking for and wasn't full of hall ways, which is wasted space for us.
We are so incredibly happy with our home and wouldn't have changed a thing!
Thank you House Plan Gallery!

The Forrest Wood - HPG-20002-1
My wife and I began our Total Money Makeover (Dave Ramsey plan) just after college. We saved up money to make sure we could have 20% on our house. Once we saved that up we started looking. We looked at around fifty houses but none of them felt right.
At the same time, my Grandma gifted my wife and I land. So, we began looking at blue prints. We were hooked. We knew we wanted an open concept and enough room for our projected four children, so we would never have to move. Once we found this layout we knew it was the one. It was absolutley everything we were looking for.
The building process took some time, but were very happy with the outcome. Our open concept could not be better. We love to entertain, and we also have large families, so it has been so nice to have room to accomodate everything.
We are so proud of our home! And we are glad that we saved like we did because we plan on living in this home for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much!
After some financial difficulties that began in 2002 we were finally about to save up enough money to build a home. In 2009 we began to build on a lot that our family had given to us. In February of 2010 we were able to move into our Country Craftsman Style house! We are so blessed! It is gorgeous!
Our experience with HPG was a home buyers dream. We found a plan we liked, made the adjustments that best fit our family, and never had a bad experience in the process. We have had people from our subdivision and others, as well as people from out of state, stop us in our yard to ask about the house and where we purchased our plan. Thank you for making the home building experience magnificent!
Soon after my husband and I were married, we knew we were going to need a bigger house. I began looking at houseplans on the internet and must have looked at hundreds over 6 months or more. We finally decided that the HPG-1800B-1 home design would work best for our family and the land it would be sitting on.
Our house sits on the former land of my parents right across from their house, located in a rural area. I wanted our house to look like a modern country home. The front and back porched remind me of my grandparents homes which were only a few miles from ours.
The interior of our home has changed our lives because it provides both parents and children their privacy by separating the bedrooms on either end of the house. In our previous house, the bedrooms were so close together that we could hear everything from room to room as if the doors were open. The kitchen and livingroom of of our other house were separated and left the cook (me) feeling isolated and left out. Now the only thing separating the areas are two two 2-foot partial walls where the flooring changes. The garage is very spacious and we have so much potential storage area off the bonus room that we will never need it all. Speaking of the bonus room, we are using it as a home gym and gameroom which my husband and kids absolutely love.
There are so many features that we love it's hard to name just a few. We love the front and back porches. We recently had a patio put in off the back porch and we love it. On the inside, I love the split bedroom design because it gives me and my husband some much needed privacy. The open kitchen and livingroom design keeps the family together during the day. We put a bedroom in the flex space which will easily be changed into an office as the children leave home. We have only 3 left living with us now.
I modified the masterbath by reversing the toilet room with a jetted tub/shower and took out the shower stall. It gave us tons on room for cabinets. We also modified the exterior/front where the garage is. We also added a mudroom in the garage where we put a sink and toilet so that my husband would have it handy when he was working in his detached garage.
I cannot end the story of our home without mentioning our wonderful builder. He helped us save so much money by letting us be the co-contractors. All along the way he tried to get us the best deals on supplies and let me pay all the suppliers early inorder to get discounts. We also did all of the interior painting and caulking to save money. Our home is worth approximately $50,000 more than it costs us, according to an unofficial appraisal.
Everyday, we realize how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful home. It all started with our House Plan Gallery plans, which arrived only 3 days after I ordered them.
Thank you, House Plan Gallery, for improving our quality of life and giving us the home of our dreams.
The Cherrywood - HPG-1654-1
Friday, February 13, 2009 -I left my home in Gulfport, MS around 4pm on a three hour drive to Alabama. My best friend, Darryn, was with me and we had to attend a Board meeting at 8pm that night, and a Membership meeting the next morning. Mary Martha, my girlfriend who lives with me, was at her father's house in Ocean Springs, MS. Her father was 92 years old and on his death bed, she was staying with him till he passed. There are no phones where I was staying, in Alabama, and cell service is limited.
Around 11:30 pm a fellow member of our club, who lives in the area, came by and woke us up. He explained that I needed to get home because I had a fire at home and there was a hole in my roof. My buddy and I drove around and found cell service. I was able to get in touch with Mary Martha and she filled me in. Her father had passed away and my house was burned beyond repair. We made the trip back to Gulfport safely. The Red Cross set us up with a place to stay and provided us with money for meals for the weekend. They also gave us a debit card for clothes and necessities purchases.
My insurance company ended up declaring the house a total loss. Mary Martha's family offered us to stay in her father's house until we figured out all of our requirements in dealing with the insurance company. We ended up renting her father's house from the estate of the family, while our new house was under construction.
Our next step, after demolishing the old house, was to decide on a house plan and get quotes from builders. After weeks of internet and local building store searches, we finally decided on a house plan that best meet our needs and wants. We found the HPG-1654-1 house plan and you can imagine how surprised we were when the plans came in and we saw that they originated from Hattiesburg, MS.
Darryn called me and told me he had bumped into a friend of ours that we had gone to high school and played baseball with. That friend was Johnny Willis and he was a building contractor. I called Johnny and about four other contractors and got bids for building my new home. After alot of discussions and visits to view some of the work completed and in progress, I decided on Mr. Willis. Johnny also did his own framing, this made it easy to make adjustments without having to get the plans re-drawn. Johnny stated he would have it finished in 90-120 days.
He started in May of 2009, and even with the MAJOR changes, that effect building in the City of Gulfport by the Code Office and FEMA regulations, due to Hurricane Katrina. He was able to complete the project inside the alotted time frame. And in September of 2009, we moved in and became the happy owners of a beautiful House Plan Gallery home. Some pictures taken during the construction process may be viewed here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/album.php?id=702243524&aid=89187
We were so happy to have found the HPG-2200C-1 house plan. It met all of our needs and has absolutely no wasted space. We have already started the building process and its coming along great. The team at House Plan Gallery was a pleasure to work with, and we can't wait to move in!
Seven months ago, I purchased these plans for my dream home online. We were ready to move from the city and build something for our active family. We lived in a suburban track home for 13 years before deciding to build in the country.
After several months of pouring over floor plans, I was able to narrow it down to just this one. We bought an acre of land in the country and proceeded to build on our lot. I told everyone that I wanted to enjoy the experience of building our home, and I truly did. I had so much fun picking everything from the floor plan to fixtures, granite and ceiling fans.
Some of my favorite features of this plan are that there is absolutely no wasted space. I also love my closets, pantry and porches. I also like the breakfast bar. It is definitely my dream home.
The HPG-2500-1 house plan that I chose is a one-story house, four bedrooms, 3-1/2 baths with a game room over the garage. We chose to build it with brick and a touch of Austin limestone. The inside is lovely in shades of green, tan and brown. Everyone who visits says they feel right at home the second they enter. We had our first family get-together on Easter weekend, and I can't tell you how wonderful it was having a home like this to share with our family and friends. After dining inside, we all moved into the yard and enjoyed watching the little ones hunt Easter eggs in the backyard.
Thank you, House Plan Gallery, for making our home building experience the very best it could ever be!
